Mel Green: Links

www.melmelandjulian.com

This is the re-worked website about Mel, Mel & Julian, the 60s era folk-comedy group that Mel co-founded in 1963 while at art school in South Africa with Mel Miller.

You can find a first-hand detailed history about the band, old photographs, discography and a CD Store, where you can hear and buy their music, and much more. Be sure to visit, get in touch and say hello!

And if you happen to have old photos and anecdotes from performances you may have attended, please do get in touch and share them... (in this way a bootleg performance from the old Edward days was shared, and is being analyzed for possible release ... songs, jokes, audience participation and all!)

A Photo Album: The Folk Community in South Africa, 60s and Onward

This is a photo chronicle of the South African 60s era folk music community. Most of the photos shown were taken at the Troubadour, Johannesburg's premier folk club. The main suspects shown all played there at one time or another. I left South Africa in early May of 1970, and so the album reflects the folk scene from my view-point up until that time.
I would appreciate any information regarding the photographers, if they are not credited. Also welcome, would be additional hi-resolution photos of anyone shown... some are tiny photos and would benefit by being replaced by larger versions. Please get in touch via my Guestbook link. Anecdotes would also be very welcome!

The Maple Street Project

The Maple Street Project which has been playing and writing songs together for the last 25 years. They still gig occasionally and the band's nucleus is an on-going songwriting collaborative... currently on an extended sabbatical. Their website... www.maplestreetproject.com is currently offline.
